Alexander Fleming was a doctor without a cure because he knew people were dying of infections and he had no way to help them. So he set out to discover the cure.
During World War I Alexander Fleming worked as a doctor. He saw that bacterial infections were killing more lives than bombs or bullets. He could also see that the treatment they were administering (carbolic acid) was not improving people’s health. Therefore, he realized that he did not have a cure for bacterial infections and he decided to search for one.
Fleming went through a disturbing situation, since many people died in front of him, without him being able to do anything to stop it. But he came back to London to find the cure. After a period without any discovery, on a random day, Fleming discovered that a substance capable of reaching the cell walls of bacteria, rendering them inactive and unable to divide and reproduce, dying quickly - penicillin
Becuase, during WWI, dozens of people died in front of him and he knew there was nothing to treat them with. He just knew those ho had infections would die no matter what treatment they applied.
