I am really enjoying this topic. I want to point out the fact that they discussed this matter in church. African people are religious, for them what the priest or pastor has to say is very important. In some countries, for example mine, some people take their personal matters or problems to their priest so they can guide them or tell them what to do. This, most of the time, is an issue. The fact that in Botswana they used personal experience as a testimony shows how little by little this population committed to take action and stop being skeptical.

So according to this, raising awareness among priest may be a usefull strategy to influence african people and open their minds.
